Be A Chef For A Day (BACFAD) empowers kids to cultivate healthy, successful futures for themselves and their families through food literacy, culinary competence, curiosity, and creativity. While our work includes broadening access to quality food and ingredients, we believe providing education around nutritious cooking and eating habits can help transform, fulfill, and sustain our communities beyond hunger.
The BIT Art Gallery (formerly National Italian American Gallery)aims at providing the local community with the centuries-old Italian cultural tradition of inquiry and intellectual and creative freedom.
We will host exhibitions of aesthetic, social, historical, and political dialogue with Italy and Baltimore.
A wide range of media and styles will unveil every time an unknown side of Italy: Italy through the eyes and experiences of the artists; Italy rooted in the peninsula’s current cultural developments and disappearing traditions; Italy echoed in the experiences of Italian heritage abroad.
A Baltimore Food Social Enterprise Since September 2020, our nonprofit has been working on creating a social enterprise that would provide job training and job opportunities for community opportunity youth and support our Be a Chef for a Day program while crafting something special.
Pasta is something we all fell in love with. Thousand of years of traditions to recreate a simple act of flour and water shaped into a masterpiece of culinary art.
Community access to affordable healthy food has always been a pillar of our organization's mission.
Since 2015 with the Be a Chef for a Day - National Children Culinary Arts Festival, we have focused on leading kids and families to discover a healthy lifestyle.
Simply put (or as we explain it to every first grader in our program!): if we compare our body to a Ferrari sports car, we want to have the best "fuel" possible.
Food is fuel for
our body, mind, and soul.
We don't "function well" if we don't have access to good food.
This is why we focus on providing food and nutrition education to our neighbors!
