Be a Chef for a Day (BACFAD BEAT), is a youth-centric and skills-centered dynamic food initiative of the Italian Cultural Center of Maryland that operates in the Greater Baltimore-Washington Area and provides meals, nutritional education, life, and culinary skills, and training to youth and their families. The ultimate goal is to pull our community out of hunger and address poor nutrition-related diseases, household instability due to financial struggles, and food insecurity.
We are good at making complicated things happening! Not every resident of the Greenmount/YorkRoad Community can drive to a store? We bring a store to them! Not every resident f the Greenmount/YorkRoad Community can afford quality fresh produce? Through our agreement with many farms, we make affordable possible. Neighbors are intimidated by cooking with new ingredients or feel that cooking is not their thing? Hop up! This bus is a cooking class on wheels and our dedicated team members will show you how to make a delicious meal!
